Which vitamin B9 should you choose?
• Folic acid: classic and widely used form, especially important during preconception and pregnancy.
• Methylfolate / 5-MTHF: active form of folate that does not need to be converted into 5-MTHF first; a good choice when looking for a directly usable form.
• Folic acid + myo-inositol: geared toward female reproductive health, ovarian balance, and preconception.

Tip: in addition to the amount, pay attention to the form of B9. The EFSA sets an upper limit for adults of 1,000 µg/day of folate. 200 µg is equivalent to 100% of the European NRV. For women trying to conceive, 400 µg of folic acid daily is usually recommended.

• 800–1,000 µg: high dose.
